PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adapter for an optical disk which eliminates a defect caused by birefringence due to uneven stress applied in the radial direction of the optical disk, and realizes good reproduction and good recording. SOLUTION: A doughnut-shaped adapter used in the state where the optical disk is inserted consists of a doughnut-shaped base part 2 and an elastic part 3 provided at the inner peripheral side, and the inner peripheral edge of the elastic part 3 is uniformly brought into contact with the outer peripheral edge of the optical disk.
