PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproducing device which does not require the installation of a dedicated button for switching to a GUI screen and is easily operated by a user. SOLUTION: The reproducing device which reproduces digital data recorded on a recording medium has an operation part to input an instruction for operating the reproducing device by remote control, a control part to control the operation of the reproducing device according to the output of the operation part and an output part to output data for the GUI screen. The operation part is provided with a plurality of cursor buttons to input instructions to move a mark indicating positions where a character and a numeral displayed on the GUI screen are inputted or the position of a content selected from a plurality of contents in four directions (up, down, left, right). The control part controls the output part to output the data for the GUI screen when the cursor buttons are pushed while the output part does not output the data for the GUI screen.
