PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a current limiter, which can restrain effectively surge current due to large accident current, will not need a large bias current, and can supply object power to a power load body, and a power supply system using the current limiter. SOLUTION: The power system is equipped with an AC power source 1, the current limiter 2 and the power load body 3, to which prescribed power is to be supplied. The current limiter 2 is equipped with diodes 4-1 to 4-5 as semiconductor elements having rectifying properties, a coil 6 constituted of, e.g. superconducting material, and a bias DC power source 8. The diodes 4-1 and 4-2 and the diodes 4-4 and 4-5 are connected in series and constitute the respective series circuit parts. The diode 4-3 and the DC bias power source 8 are connected in series and constituted a series circuit part. The series circuit parts are connected in parallel, thereby constituting a rectifying circuit.
