PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a disturbed image from being displayed even when digital image data conforming to a first recording format and digital image data conforming to a second recording format different from the first recording format are continuously inputted from the outside. SOLUTION: A controlling part 110 discriminates whether the recording format of digital image data inputted to a digital interface 101 is changed from an SD format to an SDL format. When the recording format gas been changed to the SDL format a selecting part 107 supplies an image signal (corresponding to a blue background image or warning image) supplied from an image signal generating part 106 to a display device 108 and an image output terminal 109 until a prescribed period (enough for SDL decoder 105 to output normally decoded SDL data) elapses to prevent disturbed images from being displayed on the display device 108 and on the image output terminal 109.
