Bandsaw apparatus and method of operation

A method of operating a bandsaw is disclosed. By stopping a bandsaw between saw cuts it is possible to reduce fatigue in wide bandsaw blades significantly. This, and a gullet stress reduction strategy have resulted in a sixty three percent increase in bandsaw blade thickness (2.02) for a given wheel diameter (2.05) while maintaining high strain. To achieve this it is necessary to redesign the bandsaw. To that end, descriptions of three bandsaw drive systems are described along with the required band wheel modifications.
