PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus are provided to shorten measurement time, while achieving improved quality of sinter and reducing fuel costs. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus(20) comprises a measurement sensor unit(30) disposed beneath a conveyor belt(1) for conveying a sinter(2) and which has a measurement LC oscillator and a reference LC oscillator disposed within the measurement sensor unit, and the measurement sensor unit measures frequency of the sinter; an ultrasonic distance sensor unit(21) arranged on the sinter and which measures thickness and weight of the sinter; a temperature sensor unit(22) arranged on the sinter and which measures temperature change; a controller(40) for correcting the frequency extracted by a frequency extractor and outputting the result, in consideration of the values output from the frequency extractor, ultrasonic distance sensor unit and the temperature sensor unit; and a computer for calculating FeO content in the sinter by comparing the signal output from the controller and the data on the FeO content.
