PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an echo canceller that eliminates a call tone signal which is an echo component from a near end input signal, without eliminating or deteriorating an interruption signal BT being a transmission target signal in the case of transmitting a near-end input signal, including the interruption tone signal and a call signal, as the echo component to a remote end. SOLUTION: The echo canceller, where an adaptive equalization means generates a pseudo-echo signal from a received input signal and subtracts the pseudo echo signal from a transmission input signal including the echo component, so as to eliminate the echo component mixed in the transmission input signal, includes a call tone monitor means that discriminates whether the call tone signal indicates a single talk state and controls the update/stoppage of the tap coefficient of the adaptive equalizing means, on the basis of the discrimination result.
