PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display method which facilitates retrieval work and supplies a new viewing method on video when the desired scene of video such as a cinema, a drama, the theatre and entertainment based on a script displayed by character information is retrieved, and to provide a video retrieval device, a video display system, a computer program and a record medium. SOLUTION: Time information showing the lapse time of video information, video information showing video and character information showing the script are correspondingly recorded. The input of character information on a stage direction explaining the scene and the situation of a character, and a line is received. Desired video is extracted based on received character information and extracted video and the script are arranged and displayed.
