PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of a print server with excellent fault tolerance and maintainability and to provide the print server by the control method. SOLUTION: In the print server (1) using a multipurpose computer, a RAM disk is generated in an unused area of a RAM (9) by a starting program to be read from a boot device (2) to a RAM (8) when a power is applied, a control program is further read from the boot device (2), written in the generated RAM disk, setting information to perform initialization is read from a recording medium (FD) attachable/detachable to the print server, written in the RAM disk, the RAM disk is used as a main external storage device and a printing request to be received via a network is processed after initializing the print server based on the setting information. |
