PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery capable of increasing safety by preventing heating from being produced by internal short circuiting. SOLUTION: A battery comprises a rolled electrode body 20, having a band- shaped positive electrode 21 and a negative electrode 22 rolled via a separator 23. The negative electrode 22 is so designed that lithium metal is deposited during charging. The capacity of the negative electrode 22 is expressed by the sum of a capacity component by the storage and release of lithium and a capacity component by the deposition and dissolution of the lithium metal. The positive electrode 21 contains, as positive electrode active material, phosphorus oxides such as LiFePO4 or LiFe0.5 Mn0.5 PO4 and oxides, such as LiCoO2 , LiNi0.8 CO0.2 O2 or LiMn2 O4 . Heating due to internal short circuiting is prevented by the phosphorus oxides, such as LiFePO4 to increase safety, and the capacity is increased by oxides, such as LiCoO2 . |
