PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device and an image reading apparatus with the light source device for increasing the quantity of illumination light at an surrounding part of a manuscript face and reading the image information of the manuscript with high accuracy. SOLUTION: The light source device includes a bar-shaped light source 3 having an elongated illuminant in a direction and a lamp holder 11 for positioning and holding the bar-shaped light source. The lamp holder 11 has reflective members 12a and 12b in a body for reflecting partly the beam of light from an edge of the illuminant of the bar-shaped light source 3.
