PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material having low fog and good preservability, satisfying high sensitivity, high Dmax (maximum density) and a high color tone, having small temperature and humidity dependencies in development and optimum for a medical diagnostic image. SOLUTION: The heat developable photosensitive material has an image forming layer containing a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, photosensitive silver halide, a reducing agent for silver ions and a binder on one face of the base. When the material is heat-developed under the conditions of 121 deg.C and 24 see after exposure, >=90% of developed silver contacts with the photosensitive silver halide grains after development. The photosensitive silver halide has been chemically sensitized with a noble metal sensitizer.
