PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a heat sink having a good shape of a heat pipe and good cooling characteristics by a thermal pipe enlarging process. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing the heat sink by the thermal pipe enlarging process comprises steps of inserting the heat pipe 14 charging working liquid into heat pipe insertion holes 4, 5 of heat transfer members 2, 3, then heating the heat pipe, and plastically deforming the pipe 1 by its vapor pressure in the radially enlarging direction to connect the members 2, 3 to the pipe 1. In this method, the pipe is heated by fixing the exposed part of the pipe 1 by fixed molds, and hence the swelling-out of the exposed part 8 of the pipe 1 is prevented.
