PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional common synchronous rectification type switching regulator, where a power loss is small when a load is relatively heavy but the power loss is large when the load is light. SOLUTION: In a synchronous rectification type switching regulator which has a pair of switches (SW1 and SW2) whose ON/OFF operations are complementarily controlled to supply a current to an inductor, a reverse current detection circuit (22) which detects a reverse direction current supplied to the voltage input terminal side switch (SW1) is provided and, when the reverse current is detected, the reference potential side switch (SW2) is turned off.
