<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve light source utilization efficiency, and to improve reliability of gradation reproduction, when the spatial light modulation of high gradation is performed with few number of sub frames. SOLUTION: When irradiation light from a light source 34 is modulated, a light source control part 40, if the unit time of integrally spatial-light modulating single spatial light information is defined as one field and the number of the sub fields in one field as n, varies the irradiation light quantity of the light source in the range of m/n<=0.5, in the period of one field for each variable stage number m between a maximum value Emax of the irradiated light quantity and a minimum unit value Emin of the irradiated light quantity of the light source becomes practically Emax=Emin×2<m-1> (m is an integer and m>=1) to the maximum value Emax of the irradiated light quantity, and controls the irradiation timing.</p> |
