SOLUTION: This invention relates to the active matrix type light emitting element having a light emitting layer 3 arranged in a matrix form, a transparent conductive layer 2 for supplying electrons or holes to the light emitting layer 3, a TFT substrate 1 on which a matrix control circuit for controlling the emission of the light emitting layer 3 is formed. A low refractive layer 4 in the range of 1.01-1.3 refractive index is provided on the light emitting layer 3 and its opposite side of the transparent conductive layer 2.
