PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting unit of which, a display area is surely prevented from intrusion of dust, and to provide a liquid crystal display device using the same. SOLUTION: For the lighting unit UT of which, the upper part of a light guide plate 1 is used as a display area, comprising a light source 2, a light guide plate 1 guiding the light emitted from the light source 2, a reflection sheet 3 arranged so as to surround at least left and right end surface of the light guide plate 1, and a casing 9 at least holding the outer periphery side of the members which are arranged with a space M between them so as to surround the reflection sheet 3, the reflection sheet 3 has an extended part 3A for separation extended from the upper end of a side E2 to which, the light source 2 is not arranged, toward the inside wall of the casings 9, 10. |
