PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a potable telephone set which can notify incoming voice call and incoming call electronic mail and is provided with a function, capable of discriminating and informing both of them, and an incoming call informing method. SOLUTION: Data for a plurality of kinds of vibration patterns of a vibrator 20 for notifying incoming call are stored in a ROM 13. A control part 15 displays respective set images for incoming call voice and for incoming call electronic mail which display to enable selective setting of a plurality of the vibration patterns on an LCD 17 by operating a Key 21. The vibration patterns set by the setting images are stored in a RAM 14, in such a manner that it can be discriminated whether the pattern is for the voice or for the electronic mil. When on coming call signal is received, voice call or electronic mail call is discriminated. According to the discrimination result, a vibration pattern is determined by referring to the RAM 14. Data of the determined vibration pattern is read from the RAM 13, and vibrates the vibrator 20.
