The compounds of formula (I) are useful for preventing the onset of autoimmune, neurodegenerative and inflammatory disease, wherein: R1 is alkoxy, alkaryloxy, alkcycloalkoxy, aryloxy and cycloalkoxy; R2 is hydrogen, alkoxy, alkcycloalkoxy, cycloalkoxy and halogen, or when R1 and R2 may be joined together to form a alkylenedioxy group; R3 is hydrogen, alkoxy, alkcycloalkoxy, cycloalkoxy and halogen; R4 is hydrogen and alkyl; R5 is alkyl having at least three carbon atoms, and cycloalkyl; Also described are selected compounds of formula (I) and pharmaceutical compositions thereof. These selected compounds are useful for treating or preventing neurodegenerative diseases.
