摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device in which nonvolatile recording can be achieved with high density at high rate. SOLUTION: On the surface of a superstructural element body 11 integrating a large number of recording elements performing an ultrahigh rate recording operation by an arrangement where a holding body, i.e., an aggregate solid of atoms, ions and/or molecules, incorporates four or more movable electrons, the cooperative positional shift of an electron groups can be attained by an electric field and, as a result, the state of the aggregate solid including the electron group has two different controllable stable distribution positions 0 and 1, conductors 12 and 13 for applying an electric field selectively to each recording element are provided. Situations where the positional shift of the electron group takes place and does not take place upon the application of a field pulse are detected as an electric pulse signal, and a corresponding response signal pulse is applied as an electric pulse signal thus performing recording, nondestructive read out, recovery, erasure, and the like.
