PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic image forming device the operability of which is improved remarkably by performing attaching/detaching of a process cartridge and the connecting operation and the releasing operation of a coupling driving system linked with the opening and closing operation of an opening and closing member. SOLUTION: A mounting member holding means for holding a cartridge mounting member movably linked with the opening and closing operation of the opening and closing member is provided at a first position where the process cartridge can be attached and detached in the opening state of the opening and closing member which opens and closes an opening for attaching and detaching the process cartridge and the second position where the process cartridge can perform image forming operation in the closing state of the opening and closing member. A driving gear string, a coupling mechanism for transmitting driving force to the process cartridge, a coupling control mechanism for controlling the connection and the release of the process cartridge and the coupling mechanism and a process cartridge mounting member holding means operate linked with the opening and closing operation of the opening and closing member.
