PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable, high performance, and small power consumption module for optical communication. SOLUTION: In the module for optical communication using a thermoelectric element 10 including a semiconductor chip 12 at least between a cooling-side electrode 8 and a radiating-side electrode 9 for controlling the temperature of the element for optical communication, a heat travel inhibition means 21 is provided to inhibit the move of heat that is generated at the radiation side of the thermoelectric element 10 to the side of the element for optical communication.
