PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate waiting time required until image formation is available when a power saving state is released while reducing error as much as possible. SOLUTION: When the power saving state is released, a CPU 6 monitors a temperature detection value concerned with the temperature of a heat roller 1, and when the temperature of the roller 1 is being descended, waits for a turning point of the temperature of the heat 1 from the drop to the rise. Then the CPU 6 estimates timing for raising the temperature of the roller 1 up to a temperature at which fixing operation can be started on the basis of a change in the temperature of the roller 1 after turning the temperature of the roller 1 from the drop to the rise.
