In a variant of the design some of the slots can be curved instead of angular, with the convex sides of the curves facing the direction of rotation. The body (11) of the blade is made from e.g. carbon steel with edge segments attached to it by laser welding, and the abrasive particles are of natural or synthetic diamond, tungsten carbide or boron nitride in a matrix of a relatively soft metal or vulcanized resin.
