<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image compressing device which can perform encoding with simple algorithm by dividing input image data in each different type, selecting a fitting encoding means in each different type and encoding the image data, is easily made to be hardware and has a fast processing speed. SOLUTION: This image compressing device is provided with an image dividing means (image dividing block 1) for dividing the input image data in each different type, and a plurality of encoding means (encoding block 2) for encoding the divided image data of one word unit with a method corresponding to each different type.
