The transmission method uses carrierless amplitude phase modulation of a bit stream at the transmission side, with corresponding demodulation at the reception side. The bit stream is divided via a mapper (11) into a number of symbol sequences, modulated via a corresponding number of modulation stages (CAP1,..CAPN), for providing sub-bands, added together to provide the modulated bit stream. An Independent claim for a digital signal transmission device is also included.
