The invention relates to a novel radio transmission method and a wireless transmission system comprising multiple, transmitter and receiver antennas simultaneously operating within the same frequency range and space-time encoders and decoders. Said method is based on the known BLAST method, according to which data transmission and channel matrix measurement take place in a temporally alternating manner to determine the transmission behaviour. Precise novel measuring technology for the channel matrix is introduced so that both operations can take place synchronously. Characteristic pilot signals (Pi(t)) that are unequivocally recognisable are super-imposed with low-noise on the data sub-signals (Di(t)) in the transmitter (Tx) and are used in the receiver (Rx) for the analogue measurement of the channel matrix ([H]) in a weighting unit (WU) and for the analogue recovery of the transmitted data sub-signals (Di(t)) from the received signals (Ej(t)). The analogue measured values (I, Q) are digitally processed in a signal processor (DSP). The weightings (Ii,j) thus determined are then impressed upon the received signals by means of IQ modulators (IQ modij), as a principal circuit constituent (Ej(t)). The received signals are then totalled in an analogue signal processing unit (ASU). The synchronism and the extensive hardware structure permit high-speed data transmission rates of up to 100 Mbit/s with a high spectral efficiency. One possible application is the wireless indoor LAN. |
