SIGNAL PROCESSING METHOD FOR SCANNING RADAR

A method for judging whether or not a plurality of beams come from the same target even if the target is a heavy duty vehicle and specifying the center of the target, in which peaks of substantially the same peak frequencies and of reception levels above a predetermined value are selected out of the peaks generated from a radar signal reflected from the target, the center angle is determined from the angles of the leftmost and rightmost peaks if there are a plurality of selected peaks, and the determined center angle is made the target angle. The Peaks are paired, and the distances from the reflecting points of the target, the relative speeds, and the difference lengths are determined. If all the differences are below predetermined values, the peaks are judged to be of the same target.
