Oxo-ammonium salts with a sterically-hindered oxo-ammonium group attached to an insoluble support material by a linking group, are new. Oxo-ammonium salts of formula (I) in isolated form, are new. T-L-Z<+> X<-> (I) T = insoluble support material; L = linking group; Z<+> = group of formula (II), (III) or (IV); R<1>-R<5> = alkyl, allyl, aryl or benzyl; and X<-> = a counter-ion. An Independent claim is included for a method for the oxidation of organic compounds by reaction with compounds of formula (I).
