Differential pressure sensor (1) comprises a membrane (2) impinged by a medium on both sides. The membrane bends as a result of the applied pressure. The membrane surface supports a conversion unit (3) which converts the bending of the membrane into an electric signal, e.g. an electrical voltage or an electrical resistance. The conversion unit is separated from the medium by a coating (4). The sensor has a holder which allows connection of the sensor to a system introducing the medium. The membrane is made from metal, steel, ceramic, glass, SiO2, Al2O3, B2O3, Na2O, K2O, MgO, CaO, BaO, P2O and/or PbO. The conversion unit is a Wheatstone bridge.
