The present invention relates to an adapter to be fitted between a pressure pipe and a pressure gauge, which allows the formation of a passage, when the pressure gauge is connected with it, to enable it to measure the pressure of fluid but shuts off the passage, when the gauge is removed for disorder or other reasons, to prevent leakage of fluid; the adapter, consisting of a hollow, which is to be connected with the pressure gauge, and also. by a pipe with a connection hole equipped with packing of a disc, which has a projection formed to move by sliding into said hollow and gets inserted in said pipe; it also has a fluid inlet throughout the space over and around said projection, as well as packing below said projection to get into contact with the upper surface of said hollow to shut off said pipe; and of a controller of flow velocity, which inserted tightly to close the lower part of said hollow, has a hole for controlling flow velocity and supports elastic bodies; so that it can protect the pressure gauge by moderating the pressure of fluid at the time of its sudden changes. The hole for controlling flow velocity is a very small inducing reduction of velocity of fluid flowing into the pressure gauge. Consequently, it has the effect of preventing a sudden change to the needle in the pressure gauge, further preventing damage or breakdown of the pressure gauge. Moreover, even in case of leakage of fluid due to the damage to the pressure gauge, etc., only a small amount of fluid is discharged; this in turn has the effect of preventing accidents due to leakage of fluid. It can also be used with high-temperature steam without a siphon tube or other supplementary devices. |
