An axial thrust bearing(9) for the driven shaft(4) connecting with the screw shaft is located in a separate housing(14) between housings for the transmission(1) and extruder(13). Oil circulation channels(15,16) in the end face of the transmission housing connect with a chamber(17) in front of the thrust bearing and a chamber(18) behind it. Shaft rotation draws oil from the front chamber, through the bearing from inside to outside into the rear chamber and back into the front chamber. Preferred Features: Oil flows around the outer ring(11) of the thrust bearing(9) in channel-shaped recesses(19) in the thrust bearing housing(13).
