The surgical instrument has a pulsed Nd:YAG laser (1) radiating in the UV (Ultraviolet) region of the electromagnetic spectrum. The light passes through a justification system (2) and a positive lens (3) into a closed tube (3.1) with inert gas introduced through a side branch (4). The light enters a flexible thin optical waveguide tube (5) inside a protective flexible tube (6) carrying the gas. There is a handgrip (7) and a cannula (8) at the distal end of the instrument.
