PROCESS FOR PRODUCING LACTIC ACID OLIGOMER

A novel process for efficiently producing a mixture of chain and cyclic lactic acid oligomers respectively represented by the following general formulae (1) and (2): (1) (2) wherein m is an integer of 1 to 30 and n is an integer of 1 to 30. The process is characterized by polymerizing a lactide in the presence of a compound represented by the following general formula (3): Me-N(R<1>)(R<2>) (3) wherein Me represents an alkali metal and R<1> and R<2> each independently represents an aliphatic or aromatic group.
