PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display apparatus is provided to a thin and light liquid crystal display apparatus and to prevent disorder of display image. CONSTITUTION: A liquid-crystal panel(1) includes a lower transparent substrate(110) having a transparent electrode(111) on at least one of the opposite surfaces, an upper transparent substrate(120) having a transparent electrode(121) opposite to the transparent electrode of the lower substrate, and liquid crystal held between the lower substrate and the upper substrate. The upper substrate is thicker than the lower substrate. Preferably, the thickness of the lower substrate is not larger than 2/3 of the thickness of the upper substrate in order to achieve reduction in thickness and weight more effectively.
