PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical element whose shape is hardly made ununiform between each mold and each cavity in the case when a long optical element is molded by multi-cavity molding. SOLUTION: In this molding method, a long plastic optical element 30 having optical function surfaces 30a and 30b and end faces 30c and 30d almost perpendicular to these optical function surfaces is molded. In this case, a molding process wherein a plurality of optical elements are molded by using a multi- cavity mold, a mold opening process wherein a molding part for molding a first end face 30d on the side being near to the outside of the mold is made to escape from the first end face 30d when the mold is opened and a mold release process wherein the optical element 30 is released sequentially from a second end face 30c on the side being far from the outside of the mold on the occasion when the optical element is released from a mold member 10 on the movable side, are provided. |
