PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove selenium up to a low concentration by using a small amount of iron in a method of treating a water containing selenium and boron in which selenium in the water containing selenium and boron is reduced and is subjected to solid-liquid separation as coprecipitate with iron hydroxide. SOLUTION: After boron is removed from the water containing selenium and boron, the water is made to be alkaline under the coexistence of iron compounds to generate insoluble substances containing selenium which is subjected to solid-liquid separation. Otherwise, after boron is removed from the water containing selenium and boron, an acid is added, the water is brought into contact with metallic iron and then is made to be alkaline to generate insoluble substances containing selenium which is subjected to solid-liquid separation.
