PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a puzzle design method and a puzzle using the puzzle design method wherein a puzzle piece can be fitted only in a fitting recess correspondent to the puzzle piece so that the piece cannot be fitted in any other fitting recess. SOLUTION: In the puzzle wherein a plurality of fitting recesses having different shapes are provided on a puzzle board, and a puzzle piece can be fitted in a fitting recess corresponding to the puzzle piece, the fitting recesses are formed so that the revolution image or mirror image of the fitting recesses does not have the same shape and the recesses have the same area, whereby the puzzle pieces other than the puzzle piece correspondent to one of the recesses can not be fitted in the recess correspondent to the corresponding puzzle piece.
