[Also in Division C3] Laminated sheets are made from (1) 43 parts by wt. of a glass fibre mat impregnated with 100 parts by wt. of a composition comprising an unsaturated polyester resin, 2,5- dimethylhexane - 2,5 - diperoctoate catalyst, p - benzoquinone inhibitor, calcium stearate, calcium carbonate filler, and a CaO/water thickener, cured at 275‹ F. under 600 p.s.i.g. for 3¢ minutes; (2) a central layer of glass fibre impregnated with the composition in (1), and two outer layers of glass fibre impregnated with the above polyester resin composition, containing also 15 parts of a powder of natural rubber and calcium carbonate to 100 parts of polyester resin, cured as in (1); (3) a central layer as above in (3), and two outer layers as above, but with the natural rubber powder replaced by a powdered composition of a butadiene/styrene rubber and calcium carbonate, cured as before. |
