1,242,449. Dyeing natural and regenerated cellulose. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 27 Aug., 1968 [31 Aug., 1967], No. 40874/68. Heading D1B. [Also in Division C4] Natural and regenerated cellulose is dyed or printed using a co-ordinatively hexavalent complex salt of trivalent cobalt in which four of the six co-ordination points are occupied by a phthalocyanine ring having a double negative charge each of the remaining two points being occupied by a primary, secondary or tertiary polyamine and which contain as anion an ion from Cl-, Pr-, IHCO 3 -, NO 3 -, and Col 3 COO- dissolved in solvents and applied to the cellulose material and developed preferably by a heat treatment to produce a cobalt-phthalocyanine complex. The development may be effected by neutral or acid steaming, dilute aqueous acids, dry heating at 130-150‹C or with reducing agents. Mixtures of cellulose/ polyacrylonitrile, cellulose/polyester fibres may be dyed basic and disperse dyes being used for the polyacrylonitrile and polyester respectively.
