PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional game machine which can selectively switch the need or no need for backing up by a retaining means of a board box. SOLUTION: In the game machine which is provided with a backup means adapted to store the state of game when a power source is shut down and to restore the state of game when the power source is closed again, a board 6 with a backup need/no need selection switch 22 which stores the state of game when the power source is shut down to enable the selection of whether the state of game prior to the shutting down of the power source is restored or not when the power source is closed again is housed into a base 30a and a case body 30b while retaining means 34 and 35 are provided to assemble the base 30a and the case body 30b correspondingly to the backup need/no need selection switch 22. The retaining means 34 and 35 can be retained at the first retaining position set to the need for backing up without depressing the backup need/no need selection switch 22 or at the second retaining position set to the no need for backing up with the depressing of the backup need/no need selection switch or altered from one to the other.
