A process for selectively producing beauveriolide I or beauveriolide III whereby a large amount of beauveriolide I or beauveriolide III can be obtain ed at a high yield by culturing a beauveriolide-producing strain FO-6979 or its mutant in a medium for fungi containing a specific amino acid so as to selectively produce beauveriolide I or beauveriolide III at a high yield, th us selectively producing and accumulating beauveriolide I or beauveriolide III in the medium and then collecting beauveriolide I or beauveriolide III from the culture medium.
