A storage stable, fast drying mufti-component aqueous coating composition which includes an anionically stabilized binder polymer, a vinylamine polymer and a volatile base is disclosed. A method for using the aqueous coating composition to produce a coating on the surface of a substra te is further disclosed, along with the coating produced.
