The guide bracket, especially for a motor vehicle rear seat belt (7), consists of a metal rod bent into a flat loop and enclosed in a housing (3) with a slot for the belt tongue (5) to pass through. The slot also contains a spring-loaded catch (6) pivoted on a projecting end (2a) of the metal rod. The catch can be turned to permit the passage of the tongue through the slot or released to block the slot and prevent its return. The projecting end of the rod can be extended to fasten to part of the vehicle, such as the roof, seat or body.
