PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inexpensive and highly reliable identification method/device. SOLUTION: Information (1) and information (2), which are obtained by dividing original information, are stored in a user portable device 10a which a user carries and a user device 20a arranged in a user unit (a card and a portable telephone set) which the user uses. The user device 20a ciphers information (1) received from the user portable device 10a and information (2) which it itself stores by a prescribed public key PK and transmits them to an authentication center. In the authentication center, information received from the user device is decoded by using a secret key corresponding to the public key. When original information can be formed by using decoded information, the user is confirmed to be the original user of the user unit.
