PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape slitter the processing efficiency of which can be enhanced. SOLUTION: In the magnetic tape slitter provided with a storage means that stores positions of defective parts of a magnetic tape original material, an abort winding section that winds up an aborted magnetic tape, a product section that winds up a magnetic tape of a product, and a changeover means that selects a path of the magnetic tape fed from the original magnetic tape to the abort winding part or the product section on the basis of the defective position information in the storage means, when the length of an excellent part adjacent to the defective part of the magnetic tape original material is less than a required length of the product, the border of the defective part and the excellent part is not cut off but the defective part and the excellent part are wound on the abort winding section all together.
