PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of using both polarization components of light emitted from a light emitting element for display and of increasing the rate of light usable for the display to enhance use efficiency of the light, and advantageous to low consumption power by using the light emitting element with narrow directivity. SOLUTION: A light emitting means is composed by providing an optically active medium having a spiral structure, a quarter-wave plate and a linear polarizing plate above the light emitting element formed by stacking an electrode for reflecting light like a mirror-finished surface, an organic EL layer and a transparent electrode. The means is so structured that an end face of the organic EL layer interposed between the two electrodes is tightly fixed to a core part of a light guiding means. The light guiding means has a color filter having a function for diffusing light or a wavelength conversion means. |
