PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data reproducing device which is capable of rapidly reproducing an optical disk. SOLUTION: This optical disk data reproducing device has an optical pickup section 100 which reproduces data by irradiating DVD with a laser beam, a driving section 200 which rotates the DVDs, a signal forming section 300 which outputs a focus error signalαindicating the state of the misalignment of the focus of the laser beam to the DVDs, a servo control section 400 which controls the optical pickup section 100 and the driving section 200, a disk changer 500 which transfers sequentially the DVDs to a reproducing position and a control section 600 which controls the servo control section 400 and the disk changer 500. The control section 600 determines whether there is the DVD not subjected to a preparation for reproduction or not among the DVDs on a rotary tray 510 and when the control section determines that there is such DVD as a result thereof the control section transfers the DVD to the reproducing position by activating the disk changer 500 and performs the preparation for the reproduction by utilizing no reproducing period.
