Recovery of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from a liquid effluent comprising a suspension of PVC in an organic liquid comprises distilling the effluent under vacuum to obtain a paste, dissolving the paste in an organic solvent capable of forming an azeotrope with water, and adding water to the solution to precipitate the PVC in particulate form.
