PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device having a function to make temperature uniform and to provide a flat display. SOLUTION: The light source device for a flat display includes at least one light source, a reflection piece having a recessed groove which stores at least one light source and a heat pipe which sandwiches the piece between the light source and makes heat being generated by the light source uniform or eliminates the heat. The flat display that utilizes the light source device is provided with a panel unit which displays an image, the light source device which provides light beams for illumination of the unit and an external frame which stores the panel unit and the light source device and surrounds a portion of the peripheries of the unit and the device.
